Allright...so! I'm writing again...and it is no coincidence that its summer again.
Now this blog was never supposed to be a seasonal blog...neither has free time ever been a luxury for me... Why then...the wait??
Hmmm...writing can never be a first choice...I'm not good at it...doesn't come naturally [Damn it takes hours to complete a post and i'm so impatient]....And..wot the hell...nobody fucking reads!!
I have been on the verge of a new post on more than a couple of occasions..but a nice movie was always a more appealing prospect. I have frequented blogosphere as a reader though...only to be amazed by the creativity and very often the absurdity prevalent around here.
What most impresses me are these relentless Google guys...Boy...these people are so on the move and the internet was so stagnant without them. Infact on of the reasons why this post exists is because i really wanted to try out some of there innovations---Apart ofcourse from my aforeposted annual disemployment [aka summer training] which i hope to write at length about.
For pretty long now i've fancied Google as my ideal employers. But a two 'bit' Mechanical engineer...a self proclaimed good learner and creativity freak..who know just the a,b, C of computer science.....vying for Google...Gooo-ooo-gle.....Ahh...preposterous!!
Okay whatever!!
the year between this summer and the last one has been largely monotonous..and sparingly exciting. Third year is perhaps the most dull in an engineer's college life...nothing new happens...academics heats up ...possibilities of burnouts become reality...we realize that we are not supposed to learn anything new....and we really wanna break lose.....We almost drag ourselvers into the 4th year...We [atleast 'we' at IT-BHU] treat it as one last year of bondage and the third year exams are perhaps the most torturous events of our academic lives.
Some of us get involved into extra-curriculars in the name of spicing up our CVs and luckily get some breathing space...others try to find solace in their daily outings to coachings [ohh yes...coachings again] juggling between an entertaining maths and an insulting english.
That ugly question props up so very often..."Watcha gonna do kiddo??" . After 2 years of rejuvenation the exercise of "Building up a career" must be pursued again.
A flood of 3 and 4 lettered words come for you...JOB,GRE,CAT,GATE,XAT,GDs,PIs,JAVA, ETC....SHIT....while the originals get lost in the muddle.
Personally the most memorable event this past year has to be the winter tour to Goa,Bombay,Bangalore and Pune...
Crossed the border of Uttar Pradesh after some 5 years..had a gala time with friends...Discovered that i love the beaches better than the mountains....that even though i love these fun holidays, i'm not much of an explorer[so that's one career choice out of the list] and that i'm a lot more stingy than i had ever imagined.
All in all it was a wonderful self sponsored official trip perhaps another IT-BHU exclusive.
The other big [huge] experience was Technex-our Technical festival. I love to proclaim that i played a big role and was a third in the order of responsibility...though officially i was the event manager...For me it was a creatively satisfying experience though not as much managerially. But I'm glad we broke a few barriers..crossed a few thresholds and boosted the brand Technex. what left a bad taste though was the politics that ensued with people almost lobbying to take credit....when there were just three or four of us who had built the actual premise. I've realized i need to be a better team player and should be cautious and vocal about my ideas because your work doesn't always speak for you [awrite that's a tad stupid but ...heartfelt]
Apart from this I had a satisfying[surprising for others]..academic year where i managed a 7.5er in the Technex sem i'd surely take that post two disastrous sems ...What's it gonna be this time around...i'm clueless.
Have even joined a CAT coaching and am thinking of preparing for GRE
Doing a part time Training and Placement representative which has turned out to be the most thankless job ever.
Aside from a couple of accidents and health scares ..life's held no surprises...
OK....Now that 'Jack is Back' [POC 3 released last week]...i hope i can follow this one with another couple of posts maybe something on the wonderful movies i saw past year apart from my favourite subject...the summer training circus.....and try to avoid another temporary exile.
Phew....post this post you must have realized why i hate writing :-)

"I always wanted to quit on Monday Mornings"
The past few weeks of dormancy could easily be mistaken for my hectic schedule at TATA motors. but i'd rather attribute it to....my chronic laziness....no pressure from my readers....and the fact that this organization is just too huge and un-happening to write anything about....but still four weeks is a long time....
the two training experiences this summer have literally been poles apart....
Now....to talk about the training period...would be really irksome...i'd only brag about the enormous plant....the state of art equipment et al......about the unKool Korporate Kulture.....about my first day when i was turned out.. not too courteously for wearing a T-shirt (the exact words from DK boss being"we want bloody engineers not bloody gundas").....about one shreya pandey who was my training companion...and boy how she helped me explore the place....thanks to her i didnt have to ask a question in the plant.....not coz i hate to pose problems....but coz the operators love answering to female('s) queries (...she surely deserved more space)........about the proverbial cliche...."line ruk jayegi".....and about the DKs, rajeevs, ajays and prashants who made it a living hell for the ashwinis, tathagats, jiveshs and joydeeps...while the sahus, harmeshs, avishkars and dheerajs usually managed to escape unscathed....and rajeshs, atuls and a whole army of trainees like me hung around uselessly....waiting for the morning tea....the afternoon lunch....and the 5 o clock siren.....
i've seen all this and lot more...i've learned enough (it really was one helluva experience)
and to top it all....i've put on 1.5 kgs of weight....
okay....the fact is that life's tough and everyone knows that...ofcourse you can do a thousand things to it(but too many options only make it worse)....like you can do what everyone does....you can take some nice job at some nice place....say tata motors....you get some nice money and some nice reputation....you're in to automobiles which is really nice.....
you work for 10 hrs (maybe more) a day....you cherish each reponsibility...you please your bosses...and make satisfactory progress.....
but you screw something and your boss goes mad.......you stand infront of your boss with your hands behind your butt...while your boss stands infront of you with his hands on his butt...
you vent it out on someone else (there's always a lesser dog) ....you tell yourself tis just another day...you start walking the line....you fuck your creativity....you move on...make more progress.....some of you wud complain...."I always wanted to quit on monday mornings"(that guy in the ad has to be a tata motors employee)....some of you just take it in your stride....and i dunno what happens next.....probably life moves on...you make it big....but there's always a boss above you.......
maybe this does not make no sense to nobody....perhaps tis post doesnt either....or the entire blog for that matter...
its been a long summer...back at college its gonna be ...more fun...more feasts....more football....and hopefully no F-grades......

Being Chaddha
Mr. Chaddha is an entrepreneur.
he has built all by himself a company that is a pioneer in the field of clean room and waste management. CECON(thats his company) has carved a niche for itself supplying all sorts of products all over india and is now diverging into water purification, sound proofing etc. etc.
Mr. Chaddha has been acquiring wealth at apretty good rate. he has installed both his kids at the other two important positions in the company insuring their future. he has also received the "innovative Entrepreneur" award from some rereputed organization and ofcourse has been honoured by the U.P. government.
and before i start sounding biographical...
Mr. Chaddha sucks
the times that i live in there are entrepreneurs and wannabe entrepreneurs galore and more than once has the career option crossed my mind.but until now apart from figuring out its pronunciation and a couple of wayward ideas there had been nothin substantial.
thus, even though my only achievements in the past two weeks has been a mega hi-score in snake(that's the nokia mobile game) and wee-bits of manufacturing knowledge......i'm glad i went to him.
he must be in his late fifties(is a grandfather) and is perhaps the most energetic of all the people working for CECON....has a well furnished office(if not a great factory)....lives the classy lifestyle(though by no means extravagant)
but lets rather talk of his business skills
he's got all the ISO certificates and quality manuals done in great details...ofcourse he doesn't care to stick to them. the no. of workers are just 10 on paper when there are more than 30 at work....well that's required to save some tax and some regulations. the work place is pretty pathetic with little walking space when the huge ugly steel structures are being built...and there are some really outdated equipments...but he's ensured the basic amenities a home made water cooler and a few unused air blowers for the workers...has even set up an indigenous central cooling system fo the office that gave way the first time it was tried. the workers ofcourse are not qualified(what with the hopeless pay packages) yet they can do anything from welding to painting to installation....and they've learned it all there itself...you ofcourse cant expect him to be sweet to them and any form of oversmartness is meted out with the famous punjabi abuses (coming straight out of rang de basanti)....when its a special order he gets an imported duplicate of his product sticks his own label on it and wins accolades for it.
and jus in case he gets a fool to do summer training at his place(i've been the only case)...he ceases the opportunity uses him as an unpaid worker and diminishes the thick line separating an engineer and a mechanic....
well enough of Chaddha bashing. thats probably what you've gotta do to make it big.....
so...for all the e-hopefuls....its a tough road ahead
